Christians protecting praying Muslims during uprisings in Cairo.
I don’t usually blog things like this, but this photo made me cry. With so many images and stories of people attacking others in the name of Christ, this one was very encouraging. It’s a relief to remember that there are still followers of Jesus who act like Him, protecting their fellow man, being courageous, and loving others well. Sometimes it hurts that people find out I’m a Christian and assume I am ignorant, unintelligent, homophobic, intolerant and a blind follower. It hurts when people are afraid of me, because they think I will try to convert them the first chance I get and then forget about them. And it hurts that people think that because my faith is the most important thing in my life that I will turn my back on those who are different. Throughout history the church has done some terrible things that I am not proud of and that I don’t think Jesus is proud of. But it’s pictures and stories like this that give me hope that there are Christians in the world who do care. No one is perfect, but thankfully there are still those who will stand up and do what is right by protecting God’s children and showing them the love that Jesus would, regardless of color, lifestyle or religion. 199 notes
